How to find us?

Happy Tuesday, peeps! Well, what remains of it. :op

To them who has just found us, a very big + warm welcome to all of you! :o)

We are doing another installment of Bijou Bazaar @ Jeumpa D'ramo this weekend y'all! If you don't already know where it is, Jeumpa D'ramo is the white bungalow on Jalan Maarof, Bangsar. It is just at the traffic light junction into Jalan Bangkung.

The address is 102 - 104, Jalan Maarof, Bangsar. Operating hours is from 3 pm till late!

As usual, we'll be having the rainbow wind wheels in front of the bungalow, so that you won't miss it.

In addition to that we are crocheting a tree cosy, which is now looking more like a tree fishnet stockings. Harks!

I guess, trees want to be sexy too right? Tree ... more sexy!!!

Come hangout + shop with us this weekend...

We have over 40 traders this time around, catering for petite + plus size women, men and even them tiny tots! Airplane Systm + Button my Buttons will be having their preview at the bazaar. There are quite a number of crafters selling awesome handmade jewelry + tees (remember my orders, peeps! To friends who envy the stuff I get from the bazaar, it pays to be early). There will be two acoustic sets on Saturday, one in the afternoon + one in the evening. A CDJ will be available for you to experiment with, at a minimum of RM 20 donation for a 1/2 hour lesson/session, you'll need to bring your own headphone + CDs. There's two sets of PS2s to keep the boys entertained.

The Oral Stage troupe will be giving us a sneak preview to their upcoming adaptation of Paula Vogel's 'How I Learned to Drive' on Saturday. There will be sales of music CDs by independent artistes. Jaxen from Rhythm Identity will be conduction a salsa session, all are welcomed to learn to salsa for free on Sunday.

There's an inflatable pool with slides for the tiny tots to play in (and a few water guns for the brave ones).

Come enjoy our mixture of poolside fun at Jeumpa D’ramo from 3 pm till late! Show your love + support to our local young entrepreneurs + talents!

Ask them who were with us at the last installment, we are one crazy fun lot! ... the shopping is even crazier!!! ;o)

Oh folks, and don't forget, although Earth Day was somewhere last month, lets still bring our own shopping bag or reuse old plastic bags ya!

Bursting at the Seams

As much as we want to make space for everyone who wants to flaunt their wares at our bazaar, we are currently bursting at the seams. Unless you've registered your interest earlier, we are not able to accept anymore traders for both Bijou Bazaar @ Jeumpa D'ramo 02 + Bijou Bazaar @ KLue Urbanscapes 2008. We are really, really, really sorry. :o(

Unless you don't mind a car boot sale, literally, at the car park area in front of Jeumpa D'ramo...

Even then, there'll be limited space because Cosmopolitan magazine wants to park their mobile gig + handout giveaways to the crowd.

But, we thank you for the interest + we'll keep you folks posted for our bigger installment, soon, hopefully. :o)

Bijou Bazaar @ Jeumpa D'ramo 02

Bijou Bazaar @ Jeumpa D’ramo is back! Bigger! Crazier! Featuring upcoming independent designers, e-boutiques, rookie crafters, xxx-treme crafters, 80s vintage, secondhand clothing, little knick knacks and of course, food + beverage so that you don't have to drive out for ‘makan’.

Jeumpa D'ramo will be serving their signature murtabak and banana + chocolate popiah. I heard that they may be sourcing for Sosro's Teh Botol and Fruit Tea to be sold at the bazaar. Now I don't have to fly to Jakarta for my Teh Botol fix, hmmmm ... I wonder if they can blend a Jus Alpukat for me.

*salivating*

The Threadszoo Zookeepers will be with us as well! The barabicu chics will be serving us a barbecue buffet spread.

No, no zoo animal will be harmed.

Oh, we need to follow up with the yogurt ice cream people to confirm if they are coming as well.

(Sorry, peeps! I've not had my lunch nor breakfast, hence the food talk first. :op)

Since we are in the Indonesian theme, we're happy to announce that we will be having a preview to Bandung based indie label, Airplane Systm, on Sunday at the bazaar. The full range will be made available during Bijou Bazaar @ KLue Urbanscapes 2008.

Curious?

Want more? Go here http://www.airplanesystm.com/homepage/

On the acoustic stage, we'll be featuring a local DIY band, as they called themselves, which will be doing their Indonesian tour in June 2008, Oh Chentaku!

Initially, they were supposed to share the stage with Yuna (www.myspace.com/yunaroomrecords), but she'll have to attend a family kenduri in Johor that weekend.

Dang!

Let us share with you a video clip of Yuna doing a cover of Oh Chentaku's song, Polaroid, while we continue working to make sure Bijou Bazaar @ Jeumpa D'ramo 02 is way crazier! ;o)

xoxo

Koko Kaina's Sidekick

Remember, the tall hunk who carried out the delicate role of being the supporting guitarist to Koko Kaina? His name is Krishna, recently I managed to catch up with him online.

Define yourself in 3 words...
3 words: Rocker, Well Travelled, Open Minded

What is your favorite song of all time?
Favourite Song: Weezer – Why Bother? (Actually any Weezer song will suffice but this one’s great)

Rolling Stones or Beatles?
Beatles *writer goes, Yey! :op*

What is your favorite TV show?
The Simpsons. Boring answer haha but it’s a great show.

If you had to pick one car, which would it be?
Honda CR-V (Because I might actually get it!)

Who was your hero as a child?
Jimi Hendrix

Do you believe that the cup is half empty or half full?
I believe the cup simply is.

Sundanese.

If you could be successful at any job in the world, what would that job be?
Music Producer.

Describe your perfect Sunday morning?
Relaxing with my family, having breakfast on a sunny Sunday Morning.

A shout out to them reading?
Hi to everyone!

You will now know me as Koko Kaina’s guitarist but apart from being her faithful sidekick I am a musician/music lover who wouldn’t be caught dead doing anything else. Started playing guitar at the age of 13 and have gone to explore other facets of music such as playing the drums, bass, and even DJing!

When I was in Singapore I joined a lot of bands in highschool, one of them being Wakak where we somehow managed to get 2nd place for the Yamaha Asian Beat competition!

After moving to KL I explored the world of DJing and have done so in a few clubs and house parties, one of them being Bar Blonde in Heritage Row. But on a fateful month (I can’t remember which one exactly) of 2007 I met Koko Kaina in a friend’s house party, was told that she was a musical godess/genius and agreed to play the guitar with her. We played for a while as Flat 7 but because of my school she had to fly solo. But I will support her nonetheless, rocking by her side in every single performance.

Koko Kaina rules!

Cheers guys.

Writer's Note
: A visit to his YouTube confirmed that Krishna is very versatile indeed + I could see one awesome drum set at the corner of his videos.

*green with envy*

A Window @ Art for Grabs

We've been away!

Had a window at the Annexe's 'Art for Grabs' last weekend. It was a blast, we had fun! The art + craft items being sold there made us gasped. KLAB 2008, which was held a floor below us was a bonus. We brought home free books as well + was challenged to better ourselves, being surrounded by the industry's heavyweights. Seriously, a truly humbling experience.

Two of our traders were there:
- Take.Me (http://takemeonline.blogspot.com/)
- Cassettee (http://cassettee.blogspot.com/)

We had the honour of being the sales assistants to two brilliant talents, who happened to be our neighbours, whenever they decided to disappear. :op

Do visit their links:

http://pics.livejournal.com/morpheuse

Akmal described himself as a proud analogue-ist, he uses analogue cameras only and made the prints individually himself. He had converted his bedroom into a dark room + sleeps on the floor in his living room, so he claimed. No buttons were harmed during the process, he joked, when one customer asked about his prints.

Fahmi Reza needs no introduction, '10 Tahun Sebelum Merdeka' was a brilliant + important work to have been produced recently. He's now working on another documentary, a sequel to '10 Tahun Sebelum Merdeka', to be released in October 2008, called 'Revolusi '48'.

(Yes! That's Dee of Threads Zoo with us)

Remember the Bijou Bazaar acoustic set? There was this tall hunk who accompanied KokoKaina? Would like to know more about him?

Up next! ;o)

KokoKaina is Bijou

We see everyone who participated or contributed to the bazaar as 'bijou', hidden little gems just waiting to be discovered. If you're not looking for them, these bijoux are actually hard to find. :o)

We spotted KokoKaina when she posted 'Summertime' cover on YouTube + immediately went head over heels in love with her. We've been stalking her YouTube since. Imagine, our excitement when she agreed to perform at our humble bazaar recently. Woohoo!!!

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to KokoKaina herself + her recording label for giving her the permission to headline our acoustic set. Thank you!

*hugs*

KokoKaina's 'signature look' above was taken by Mizi. He came to the bazaar early, on Saturday + had to leave at about 1 pm for an appointment. Lucky we managed to catch him before he went off because he had thought that KokoKaina would still be performing at the bazaar on Sunday. Oh no!

*slaps forehead*

Much to our delight, he made it back for the acoustic set. w00t! w00t!

Dazzling Expresso, he calls himself, do check his work out at http://www.flickr.com/photos/dazzling_expresso/ y'all!

Have a brilliant weekend peeps! :o)

We're popping up again soon!

The weekend 31 May - 1 June 2008, mark your calender!

Since everyone loved Jeumpa D'ramo so much + many requested a repeat, we're having the next one there as well. We will have to let the other venues wait. Owh!

To them who missed the event + are still clueless as to where Jeumpa D'ramo is, please remember to watch out for the rainbow wind wheels + we're adding a few tree-cosy as well, in front of the hotel on Jalan Maarof, Bangsar as a secret signal that we're inside. ;o)

This time we'll change the event mix + adjust the formula slightly to offer a different experience. Hah!

Curious? Watch this space.
