Surprises

Shoppers and traders, who I get to meet through the bazaar never cease to surprise me. Meet Dimi who made my jaw dropped, when he managed to solve the Rubik's cube in less than one minute, while we were chatting.

'Children of the 80s' or the '80s babies' would be familiar with the puzzle which was invented in 1974 by the Hungarian professor and sculptor, Erno Rubik. It was used as a teaching aid by the professor of architecture to explain geometric theory to his students. During the 1980s the Rubik’s Cube spawned a subculture of enthusiasts that formed clubs, organised competitions and watched cartoons all based on the puzzle.

Enough history ... lets stare in awe! :o)

Yong, a trader at the bazaar, volunteered to work his magic hands on my wrist watch that a shop outside claimed could no longer function. I was happy when it started ticking again and I only paid the battery cost!

Other gadgets retailed by Yong.

Images from Bijou Bazaar

Renjis Creations offers products for English country style interior design. Colors are lively and bright and evocative of the garden; a rustic, textural quality permeates through the use of wood and iron. Textiles include quilted throws and fabrics in floral prints; furnishings range from weaved baskets to magazine stand.

Not forgetting, kuih tunjuk galore!

Becky offers Henna drawing services every Sunday, priced at RM 5.

A black gorilla lighter selling at only RM 8 from Johnny's stall. There are other quirky designs being retailed as well.

Celebrity Spotting in Bijou Bazaar

Guess who shopped in Bijou Bazaar last Saturday?

That's Amir Mahmood Razak, a TV presenter with ASTRO Awani. The friendly personality even sat down for a while to chat with the traders.

On Sunday, just before berbuka, we had another personality who dropped by, and that's Reshmonu, albeit without his trademark braided hair.

Last weekend, we spotted Khatijah Ibrahim shopping in Bijou Bazaar.

Celebrity Spotting in Bijou Bazaar

I didn't realise this earlier but our appointed paparazzi for the PEWANIDA Charity Bazaar launch ceremony, Nadia Shazrin, spotted Wafa Tan Sri Dato' Abdul Kadir in Bijou Bazaar.

Precisely, Wafa the actress (I thought she looked familiar). Words has it, she is currently producing an animation called 'Budak Lapuk'.

Note: Maybe we can start a celebrity gossip column here next? NOT! :op

Dato' Shake @ Bijou Bazaar

The Bijou Bazaar Team would like to thank Dato' Shake for making time to launch PEWANIDA Charity Bazaar, being hosted at Bijou Bazaar, this morning, eventhough he was leaving for Paris shortly after. He was kind enough to present roses to the single mothers trading at the charity bazaar.

PEWANIDA Charity Bazaar is open daily at Jaya Shopping Centre sidewalk, between 1901 kiosk and a Korean restaurant, until 10 September 2007.

Kindness

Yesterday, we caught a visitor feeding a stray cat with canned food, at the sidewalk. A heart warming scene I'd like to share with you.

A Note to Readers: Please do not send your cats to Bijou Bazaar sidewalk, if you have no choice but to give up your cat. Do send them to RSPCA or PAWS for adoption.
